Forensic Analysis of Alarm Systems - Jeffrey Zwirn

Alarm systems are not often considered as a tool and resource in the investigation of a loss. However, alarm systems can act as a silent witness to the event and provide crucial detailed technical and timeline information which can quantify if the system was armed, disarmed, bypassed, which device(s) activated, and where in the premises they activated chronologically. In addition, further examination of internal system programming of the control panel set can reveal other serious defects and irregularities in alarm system design, functionality, and operation.

Against the foregoing backdrop, if a security system is not properly designed, installed, programmed, serviced, tested, inspected, maintained and monitored, it can negatively impact its ability to function as intended. Consequently, property loss, serious personal injury and/or death can occur. Conversely, if the alarm system had functioned properly, the damages sustained could have been significantly limited, minimized and/or even averted. This seminar will provide the attendees with actual case studies where the alarm system failed and the reasons why; where the insured attempted to defraud the insurance carrier; and how to scientifically and technically use the forensic analysis of an alarm system in arson, fire, subrogation and fraud investigations.

Local Fire Prevention Specialist and Alarm Expert Jeffrey Zwirn Weighs In On Holiday Fire Safety

This year, the holiday season coincides with the upcoming national holiday, Fire Safety Month (October). As we approach the Jewish holidays, it is imperative that every family keep in mind the disaster in Brooklyn earlier this year that killed seven children on Shabbat, which was started by a hot plate used to warm food, and think about fire prevention and safety as we prepare our homes for hosting.

Jeffrey Zwirn, President of Intruder Detection System (IDS) in Tenafly (www.alarmexpert.com) has been in business for over 40 years, designing, installing, maintaining and monitoring security systems, and is a nationally recognized expert in alarms and fire prevention. According to his research 80 percent of homes, just like the Brooklyn home, do not have properly designed, installed, monitored and maintained alarm system on the premises, making many tragedies likely avoidable. Unknowingly, fire alarm systems that are installed beyond their functional and reliable life expectancy in homes and apartments are being relied upon by consumers and their families. Because of thisit is most important that fire alarm systems be tested and maintained at least on a yearly basis by a qualified professional.

Jeff Zwirn - The Case of State of Missouri Vs. George Revelle Case Study

Case Study: State of Missouri Vs. George Revelle

"Once Mr. Revelle's new trial was obtained I went about finding the nations preeminent burglar alarm expert. Jeffrey Zwirn was the first expert we retained on behalf of George Revelle. We built our defense around the work that Jeffrey Zwirn perfromed in our case. Mr. Zwirn spent the time investigating the Revelle home alarm system in a manner that the State of Missouri should have done to begin with. Mr. Zwirn ultimately concluded that the possibility of an intruder could not be excluded based on his investigation and findings of serious defects and irregularities with respect to the system and investigation.

I am pleased to report that Mr. Revelle was found not guilty..." Read more about Jeffrey Zwirn - The Case of State of Missouri Vs. George Revelle
